Last term we learnt about how to be Firewise Kids!
We know the difference
between a tool and a toy, a safe fire and unsafe fire. We know what to do if we
discover a fire and all about what firemen do and the safety gear they use.
Our local fire brigade
were generous enough to come and demonstrate what they do when they get called
out to a real fire.
They came to our school
and smoked out one of our classrooms (don’t worry it wasn’t real smoke) and
unfortunately there were two teddy bears stuck in the classroom… OH NO!!
The fire brigade were
called and arrived in their fire truck, thank goodness! They jumped out of the
truck, put on their safety gear and one of them pulled the hose out and tested
that it was ready to go.
Then they went up to door
and checked it was ok to go into the classroom. They went inside and rescued
the teddies, brought them outside and gave them oxygen.
It was really good to be
able to see the process of going into a burning building (even if it was a fake
fire), thanks heaps guys!
Check out the photos below...
The fireman and truck went to preschool & mum put on the fireman's suit and she said it was soooo heavy!
