St John's Safe Kids

On Wednesday our class, along with a few members of Room 5, went to the hall to go and learn all about St John's.

We learnt lots of great information about them, what their uniform looks like, what their ambulances look like and what kind of emergency we call them for.

We know that you only call 111 if you have an emergency but never any other time as it can stop someone who really needs help from getting it.

Heather was really nice and she let us feel the mist that comes out of the oxygen and medicine tank so that we aren't scared of it if we ever have to go in the ambulance. We heard the FOUR different types of sirens the ambulance has and we even practised calling 111 (on fake phones though).

Check out our photos to see what we got up to!

We had to tell Heather the difference between the vehicles that can help us in an emergency.

This is what the new ambulances look like

We are telling Heather who to call for this emergency

This emergency needed the police, ambulance AND fire truck!!

This is a special clip that hooks up to a screen to show our heart beat

Some of us got to feel what it was like... We weren't even a little bit scared!

The oxygen tank that mixes the oxygen and the medicine to help us when we are sick

We got to feel what it was like

It felt like a cold mist

Listening to the sirens, they were loud!!!

Practising dialling 111... you say 1, go, 1, go, 1. That helps to not dial too fast!

1...go...1...go...1

Harrison is calling for help, Charlotte broke her arm!

We all got a turn to practise!

I wonder what Ihaka's emergency was?
